CROSSBREEDING AND BREED COMPLIMENTARITY

We believe that heterosis is the number one tool available to a cattle producer, and that it is greatly underutilized in today’s Industry.

The mating of terminally bred Charolais bulls to efficient maternally focused angus based cows offers the opportunity to maximize ranch profit by both lowering inputs and increasing outputs.  Many studies have confirmed this.  This NRI Article summarizes some of the effects of heterosis and breed complimentarity:

BULL DEVELOPMENT

Proper bull development is key to bull longevity.   Our bulls are calved in the fall which allows us to develop them at a reasonable pace.  This UNL article discusses proper bull development.  https://beef.unl.edu/cattleproduction/beefbulls2009

A handful of Beef industry experts who we believe have a wealth of knowledge that can assist most cattle producers are Burke Teichert, Allan Savory, and Johann Zeitsman.

Angus sons of Coleman Charlo 0256, Leachman Right Time, LD Capitalist 316, and SAV Resource 1441 are available for purchase at our bull sale, December 10th at Valentine Livestock in Valentine, Nebraska.   We will also be featuring an elite offering of Charolais embryo transfer bulls by EC Forefront, LT Ledger, LT Reward, M6 New Standard and others.

The bulls are currently being developed at a reasonable rate to ensure longevity at Schumacher Veterinary, just West of Valentine.  Feel free to stop in any time or contact Marshal to come out and look at the bulls.  Overdeveloped registered bulls are an enormous cost to cattle producers.  We are adamant about not over feeding our bulls to ensure that our customers can reap the benefit of their full genetic potential.
